Olympic Weightlifting Coach

Darwin González began his Olympic weightlifting journey at just 10 years old and quickly became part of two national teams: Seleccion Bolívar and Seleccion Bogotá. He competed in multiple national competitions, earning numerous gold medals throughout his athletic career.

After retiring from competition at 22, Darwin transitioned into coaching and has been contributing to the Colombian Olympic Weightlifting team through the IDRD (Instituto de Recreación y Deportes, Bogotá). In 2012, he was recognized as Coach of the Year by the IDRD in Bogotá.

With over 9 years of coaching experience, Darwin is one of the lead coaches at the Olympic training facilities in Kennedy, Bogotá. He is passionate about technical development and spends his days mentoring young athletes aged 10–15, preparing the next generation of Colombian weightlifting competitors.

During the 2018 and 2020 Train Weightlifting camps, Darwin played a key role as a coach, delivering high-quality training and guidance to all participants.
